Who is IU2RNH
My first radio activity started when I was young, around 12/13 years old.
started with 2 "portable" CB, with 3 quartz channels and 5 W, but portable in those years was an understatement!!
Lifelong computer scientist and lifelong radio enthusiast.
I enjoy building the antennas that I use, but sometimes I also buy commercial ones.
When I'm working in /portable I'm using my Yaesu FT857D, with one 4S LiPO Battery, and one step down DC-DC converter.
in this configuration I can use all the Watt available on my radio, but all the setup is lighting and simple to transport.
I'm using a fishing pole antenna, 10m long, and a 4:1 un-un to couple the 15m RG58 cable to the antenna.
The fishing pole is used with a fishing pole support, in aluminum, where I've connected a little pice of wire to the ground of the SO239.
I'm using also a wired antenna, self made, with a 4:1 un-un, the hot wire 20m long, and the counterweight long about 16m.
Obviously, I'm using the ATU 150 to be sure to have the best tuning for all the bands.
only the 160m is not on my interesting, but all the other bands yes, I like use it, included the magic band.
I'm working also in 2m and 70cm, usually on mobile using the repeaters.
in my car I'm using Yaesu FT 8900R, with a magnetic base where I've mounted a D-original 4 bands antenna (70cm,2m,6m, 10m) with good satisfaction.
